2K9 College Hoops CANCELED

Take-Two has announced today that College Hoops 2K9 has been canceled. Here is their official statement:

2K Sports has decided not to continue negotiations with the CLC for the license for its top-rated College Hoops franchise, which would have been released next in November 2008. We are committed to providing fans with high-quality, critically-acclaimed sports games, but given our disciplined approach to the business, we do not believe the current discussions would result in an acceptable outcome.

There are many rumors floating around that EA is trying to buy yet another license. Making them yet again the ONLY publisher allowed to publish another sports franchise. I don't know about you, but this has got to be a monopoly. If this is true, which it probably is, EA wins again. As they continue to churn out the same game every year with no competitors. They have already done it with football, and you can probably expect it with basketball.
